In 2008, the VRD celebrated 25 years of mountain bike racing in the Vail Valley. Continuing the tradition, in 2009 the VRD will offer mountain bike racing for all ages and abilities during the annual Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek Challenge Bike Series. Increasing in participation each year, the Adventure Ridge Youth Mountain Bike Series also will encourage youth racer to explore the sport and test themselves against all ages and abilities. Mountain bike races take place from Eagle to Vail, located in the White River National Forest and on public lands, and feature some nation’s top athletes, including professional mountain bike racer Jay Henry, Xterra triathletes Josiah Middaugh and Lisa Isom and adventure racing champions Mike Kloser and Sari Anderson.
