The Vail Recreation District is gearing up for the East West Destination Hospitality Mountain Bike Race Series presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which kicks off the summer season of racing on Wednesday, May 31. For the third year, Antlers at Vail hotel will host a special free mountain getaway weekend for Colorado nonprofits – and the list of invitees continues to grow. “We keep adding to our list,” says former Antlers at Vail GM Rob LeVine, who conceived the idea of a May “Pay It Backward” event – a play on the more familiar “Pay It Forward” concept – to thank those who work so hard to help others. The recently retired LeVine continues to be involved with Pay It Backward, this year inviting almost 50 Front Range organizations to participate in the May 12-14, 2017, weekend escape.
The Vail Golf Club is excited to kick off the golf season and will open for business on Friday, May 12. Golfers can look forward to the driving range and all 18 holes available for play on Friday, with tee times starting at 9:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. (weather dependent). The pro shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and food and beverage offerings will be available through the starter shack from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Golf bikes and electric carts will be available. It's almost time! Returning May 9, the Vail Recreation District is again partnering with Alpine Quest Sports to host the annual Vail Whitewater Race Series. In its fifth year, races will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. All races will be held at the Vail Whitewater Park where spectators will enjoy viewing the action from the banks of Gore Creek. Five races are scheduled and overall series prizes will be awarded following the final race on June 6. ( more)
