Vail, Colorado - The 2016 World Fly Fishing Championships and the 2015 Youth World Fly Fishing Championships will be hosted in Vail, Colorado, Eagle County, USA. Teams representing up to 25 countries will attend the championships.

Teams are comprised of five anglers, a coach, an alternate, and fly tyer. The European FIPS Mouche organization sets the fly fishing rules. Past international FIPS Mouche based competitions in Colorado have given our local populas time to learn the role of competent controllers, who measure and score the fish.  All fish are catch and release and barbless hooks are required.

Both events will headquarter in a host hotel in Vail, CO. Participants will be led down the cobble stone roads of  Vail Village for the opening flag ceremony and welcome speeches.  Lodging will be provided in hotels along the gold medal waters of Gore Creek and daily meals will be provided by a variety of chefs and restaurants.

The practice and competition venues will be the rivers and lakes of the Rocky Mountain high country.  With elevations ranging from 7,000' to 10,000', the competitors will fish the Colorado River, Blue River, Eagle River, Arkansas River, Sylvan Lake, Lake Nottingham, and Dillon Reservoir.  All these venues will showcase the diversity of Colorado waters and the beauty of the United States.
