VAIL, Colo. – Oct. 24, 2012 – Celebrating 25 years of reader-inspired travel, Condé Nast Traveler released its 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards anniversary edition. A record 46,476 readers cast their vote and recognized 1,306 hotels, islands, cities, cruises and airlines. For the second time this year, Condé Nast Traveler readers honored the Vail Cascade Resort with a distinguished award, ranking it among the ‘Top 40 Resorts in the West.’ Taking the 18th spot on the list, the AAA Four Diamond Vail Cascade Resort was one of eight hotels in the Vail Valley to earn this coveted award of distinction.

One reader’s comment applauds the hotel’s year-round versatility, citing that it “Exceeds all expectations, be it a romantic weekend for two or an annual family vacation. Scenic and well-designed resort, for year-round fun on ski slopes or bike trails.” Another reader’s comment compliments the staff’s hospitality “Our entire family loved this place—from the moment ‘Joe’ took our son (on) a ride on his luggage cart. We’re hooked!”

Since 1988, Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ have judged individual candidates according to relevant criteria for each award. For this survey, readers used a 100-point scale to rank hotels according to six criterions: rooms, service, food, location, design and activities. The Vail Cascade Resort earned its highest ratings for its activities (93.9) and location (92) followed by above average ratings for its design (88.3), rooms (87.6), service (86.7), and food (82.40). The 88.5 average of these six categories earned the Vail Cascade Resort the number 18 spot on the ‘Top 40 Resorts in the West’ list.

Earlier this year, Aria Spa, located in the Vail Cascade Resort, ranked among Condé Nast Traveler’s ‘Top 100 Resort Spas – U.S. Mainland,’ moving up 21 spots to seize number 24 on the list. Aria Spa earned an overall rating of 94.5 with a 96.7 for Spa Staff, a 95.1 for Spa Treatments and a 91.8 for Spa Facilities. In total, only two spas in Vail ranked in this prestigious reader’s list.
As winter draws near and the hotel prepares to celebrate Vail’s 50th Anniversary, Condé Nast Traveler readers visiting the hotel will be welcomed with new found style and panache as the hotel embarks on a multi-million dollar guest room redesign this month. Styled in contemporary mountain elegance, the new guest rooms artfully contrast nature’s sandstone palette with accents of honey gold, tangerine orange and hazelnut brown.
