(Vail)-The Vail Recreation District (VRD) is inviting the community to Dobson Ice Arena's annual Back-to-School Open House from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 in Vail. The open house is a an opportunity for prizes, giveaways, free pizza from Pazzos and free skating, while introducing visitors to the fantastic array of youth and adult skating activities available this fall. Some of Dobson's fall offerings include: Learn to Skate (basics skills for figure skating or hockey), Jr. Prep, Jumps and Spins, Introduction to Girls' Hockey, and hockey leagues for men, women and children. Registration for all Dobson's fall/winter activities will be convenient and easy at the Open House.  
Additionally, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, Dobson Ice Arena will host a skate/gear swap, which is an opportunity to find great deals on used equipment. Kids, ages eight and younger, who have never tried the sport of ice hockey, can stay busy while parents are shopping during Try Hockey for Free Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that same day.
