2017 La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series Countinues Aug. 26 with 5K & 10K at 10,000 Feet

The Vail Recreation District's 2017 La Sportiva Vail Trail Running Series, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, continues Aug. 26 with the 5K and 10K@10,000 Feet trail running race. Both races, presented by Summit Ford, will begin at 8 a.m. at the top of Gondola One at Mid-Vail on Vail Mountain, with the entire race taking place above 9,000 feet. The average grade of the 10K is 7% with an elevation gain of nearly 1,200 feet, while the shorter 5K is less challenging and will allow runners the chance to experience racing at an impressive altitude. This is the sixth race in the seven race series.  ( more)

Historic 41st Annual La Sportiva Vail HillClimb set for July 8

The historic Vail HillClimb returns this year as part of the Vail Recreation District's 2017 La Sportiva Vail Trail Running Series, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The Vail HillClimb, presented by Vail's Mountain Haus, will take place on Saturday, July 8 at 7 a.m. and has hosted over 500 participants annually over the past four decades. Featuring a switchback dirt and gravel road with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain ranges, the HillClimb tests local, regional and national runners with a 7.7 mile climb and more than 2,200 feet of elevation gain.   ( more)

The Vail Recreation District's East West Destination Hospitality Mountain Bike Race Series presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will continue the summer season of racing on Wednesday, June 14 with the Berry Creek Bash in Edwards. The Berry Creek Bash is the second race of the seven-race series, and is presented by 808 Distillery.  ( more)


Vail Golf Club Opening Friday, Passes Now on Sale

The Vail Golf Club is excited to kick off the golf season and will open for business on Friday, May 12. Golfers can look forward to the driving range and all 18 holes available for play on Friday, with tee times starting at 9:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. (weather dependent). The pro shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and food and beverage offerings will be available through the starter shack from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Golf bikes and electric carts will be available. New Golden Peak Pickelball Courts Now Open For Play

The Vail Recreation District is pleased to announce that the newly renovated Golden Peak Racquet Sports Facility is now open for pickleball play. Construction on the remodeled courts began in June and six permanent pickleball courts now occupy the space where four tennis courts once stood.  ( more)
