The Vail Recreation District will kick off its summer sports camp season next week offering a variety of learning opportunities throughout summer. June camps include volleyball, skateboard clinics, tennis, baseball, Mini-Hawks sports training, ice hockey, gymnastics, golf and soccer. A schedule of the VRD's June camps and clinics is as follows:  
 
Skills Volleyball Camp: May 31- June 2
Grades Two to 12
Coached by Colorado State University Head Volleyball Coach Tom Hilbert, the skills camps will lead participants in individual skills training to take their skills to the next level, whether a beginner or advanced player. Camps take place from 8 to 9:15 a.m. for grades second through sixth and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for grades seventh through twelfth. Costs are $60 for grades second through sixth and $160 for grades seventh through twelfth. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2280.  
   
Junior Group Tennis Lessons: Beginning June 8
Ages Five to Teens
Vail Tennis Center, Vail
Junior tennis lessons will take place Monday through Friday from from 8 to 9 a.m. for teens, 9 to 10 a.m. for ages five to six, 10 to 11 a.m. for ages seven to nine and 11 a.m. to noon for ages 10 through 12. Rocky Mountain Baseball Camp: June 8-12
Ages Six and Older
Ford Park Softball Fields, Vail
Coached by Colorado State University Pueblo Coach Stan Sanchez, the camp is great for all ability levels and will offer participants a chance to learn and improve. Costs are $185 for the full day camp, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or $150 for the half day camp, 9 a.m. to noon. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Registration underway. Vail Skateboard Clinics: Tuesdays, Beginning June 9
Ages Four to 14
Learn to skateboard at the Vail Skatepark with instructors who will teach everything from basic skills and etiquette to perfecting a boardslide or kickflip. Skateboards and helmets are required, and wrist guards and knee pads are recommended. Clinics take place from 10 a.m. to noon for ages seven to 12 or noon to 1 p.m. for ages four to six. Costs are between $15 and $25. Save $5 per session with purchase of five or more sessions. Private instruction is also available for $50 per hour and $10 each additional skater. Britney Brown Volleyball Camp: June 15-18
Grades Three to 12
Homestake Peak School, EagleVail
Join Britney Brown for a fun-filled and energetic volleyball camp that will feature age-appropriate drills, game strategy and techniques. The first part of each day will be focused on drills and the second part of the day will focus on competitive play. Costs are $175 for grades third through fifth, $150 for grades sixth through eighth and $200 for grades ninth through twelfth. Click here for details.
 
Vail Gymnastics Camps: Competitive Team Camp, June 8-12 and Public Camps, June 15-19 and 22-26  
Ages Five and Older

These week-long summer camps will not only include gymnastics, but also outdoor adventures such as hiking, visiting local parks and excursions to Dobson Ice Arena, Vail Nature Center and more. Children will be grouped according to age and skill level. The Competitive Camp will feature instruction by Utah State University Assistant Coach Brittney Emmons. All camps take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs are $235 for public camps and $225 for the team camp. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2287.
 
Canadian Professional Hockey School: June 29-July 3
Dobson Ice Arena, Vail
Canadian Professional Hockey Schools strive to make each camp or training session fun and as beneficial as possible for each and every one of the students. Fun is the base for it all. "Do what you love to do and you will never work again." FUN breeds passion and passion breeds a desire to improve and be the best you can be. Mini-Hawk Sports Training Camps: June 15--19
Ages Four to Seven
Donovan Park Playing Field, Vail

This multi-sport program will give children a positive first step into athletics. The camp will include learning the essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer in a safe and fun environment. Campers also will explore balance, movement, hand-eye coordination and skill development. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon and cost $145. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2280.
 
Vail Girl's Soccer Academy: June 22-26
Ages Six to 14

Ford Park Playing Fields Experienced local coaches and athletes lead Girl's Soccer Academy participants in skills-based sessions including footwork, passing, receiving, touch, shooting and agility in an unique environment. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Ages six to nine will play from 9 a.m. to noon and Ages 10 to 14 will play from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $150. Registration underway. Vail Junior Golf Academy: June 22-25
Ages 10 to 17
Vail Golf Club

New for 2014, the Vail Junior Golf Academy will teach students ages 10 to 17 a variety of on-course skills including, putting, driving, swing, course etiquette and more. The academy is for intermediate to advanced youth golfers who have previous course experience. Lunch is included and participants also will receive video analysis throughout the camp. PGA instruction with a 6:1 student to coach ratio. Cost is $599 per student, per session. Registration is underway. Call 970-479-2260 for information.  
 
Vail Golf Club Two-Day Beginner and Three-Day Intermediate Junior Golf Camps: Beginner 2-Day June 16-17, Three-Day Intermediate June 30-July 2

The Vail Golf Club will be offering two-day and three-day beginner camps, three-day intermediate camps and an advanced three-day camp this summer.
