June Camps Include Volleyball, Skateboarding, Tennis, Baseball, Sports Training and More!
(Vail)-The Vail Recreation District will kickoff its summer sports camps this week and offer a variety of learning opportunities throughout the month. June camps include beach volleyball, volleyball skills, skateboard clinics, tennis, baseball, Mini-Hawks sports training, ice hockey, gymnastics, golf and soccer. A schedule of June camp opportunities is as follows:  
Rocky Mountain Beach Volleyball Camp: June 1-2 ?Grades 9 to 12?Sand Courts at the Vail Athletic Field, Vail?The beach volleyball camp is ideal for players who are looking to either learn the sport of beach volleyball or improve their skills. Players will be grouped according to ability with a maximum of 10 players per coach. The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. for grades ninth through 12th and cost is $125 per player. Grades sixth through eighth will play from noon to 2 p.m. and cost is $75 per player. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2280.   
Volleyball Skills Camp: June 3-5
Grades Two to 12
Homestake Peak School, Eagle Vail
Colorado State University Head Volleyball Coach Tom Hilbert will lead participants in individual skills training during the three-day camp. Grades second through sixth will meet from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and grades seventh through 12th will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Costs are $160 for grades seventh through 12th and $60 for grades second through sixth. NEW! Vail Girls' High Country Hockey Clinic: June 8-10
Ages 7-12
Dobson Ice Arena, Vail
This new girls-only clinic, hosted by Marnie Hill, U-19 AAA Select Girls Coach based in Denver and Matt Dyroff, the U-10 Girls Vail Hockey Coach, will provide hockey players instruction on pertinent skills including stick handling, passing, shooting and overall development as athletes. Cost for the clinic is $95 per participant and includes a jersey. Lodging packages are also available at Evergreen Lodge, Lions Square Lodge at the Gondola and Vail International for out-of-town participants. To register or for more information, call 970-479-2271.

Junior Tennis Lessons: June 10-14 and June 17-21
Ages Five to Teens

Junior tennis lessons will take place Monday through Friday from from 8 to 9 a.m. for teens, 9 to 10 a.m.  for ages five to six, 10 to 11 a.m. for ages seven to nine and 11 a.m. to noon for ages 10 through 12. Cost is $65 per week, per participant. Call 970-479-2294 to registration or for details.

Coached by Colorado State University Pueblo Coach Stan Sanchez, the camp is great for all ability levels and will offer participants a chance to learn and improve. Costs are $165 for a full day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or $135 for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Registration underway. Vail Skateboard Clinics: June 11, 18 and 25
Ages Seven to 14
Vail Skatepark, Lionshead Parking Structure in Vail
Learn to skateboard at the Vail Skatepark with instructors who teach everything from basic skills and etiquette to perfecting a boardslide or kickflip. Skateboarding classes take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays. Costs per clinic are $15 to $25 for two hour sessions. Skateboards and helmets required, wrist guards and knee pads recommended. Mini-Hawk Sports Training Camps: June 17-21
Ages Four to Seven
Donovan Park Playing Field, Vail
This multi-sport program will give children a positive first step into athletics. The camp will include learning the essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer in a safe and fun environment. Campers also will explore balance, movement, hand-eye coordination and skill development. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon and cost $135. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2280.

Northern Edge Ice Hockey Goal Scoring Camp: June 17-21
Ages Six to 17
Dobson Ice Arena, Vail
Northern Edge Hockey is the premier hockey school in the industry. Now in its 20th year,  they have a low instructor-to-student ratio with attention to the smallest details to ensure players not only learn the most, but also have a great time. Camps are for all skill levels, will challenge the player through proven development plans and encourage players to work hard and have fun. Cost is $450 per participant. Call 636-532-9987.

Vail Gymnastics Camps: Competitive Camp, June 17-22 and Pre-Team Camp, June 24-28 
Ages Five and Older

These week-long summer camps will not only include gymnastics, but also outdoor adventures such as hiking, visiting local parks and excursions to Dobson Ice Arena, Vail Nature Center and more. Vail Golf Club Two-Day Beginner Junior Golf Camp: June 18-19
Ages Six to 17, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Golfers

PGA Tour Academy Youth Junior Golf Overnight Camp: June 23-27
Ages 12-18
Vail Golf Club
This golf-intensive program is complete with seminars, guest speakers, video analysis and on-course instruction. Additional focus on the mental aspect of the game, as well as proper practice routines, tournament preparation and the opportunities for college golf will occur. Students will begin early with range instruction and warm up. After lunch, each camper will play 18 holes alongside The TOUR Academy instructors, who will provide course instruction to improve each golfer's game. Evening activities include dinner, free time and evening practice. Cost is $1,195 and includes lodging at Manor Vail Lodge. Commuter rate is $995. Registration underway, call 877-611-1911.

The VRD will announced its schedule for youth summer camps including Pre-Kamp Vail, Camp Vail, Camp Eco Fun and Extreme Camp Vail. Walk-in or fax-in registration for Camp Vail, Pre Kamp Vail and Camp Eco Fun will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, April 1. No online registration is available for the youth summer camp programs.
