The Vail Recreation District's 2015 La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series continues Sunday with the 5k and 10k@10,000 Feet. This is the sixth race in the seven race series, which is presented by Anthem BlueCross BlueShield and
1st Bank.

The race, which is presented by FirstBank of Vail, begins at 8 a.m. at the top of Gondola One at Mid-Vail on Vail Mountain. 10k runners will enjoy mostly single track terrain with an average grade of 7 percent and just over 1,200 feet in elevation gain. The highest point of the race will be at 11,000 feet and provide spectacular views of the Gore and Holy Cross Mountain Ranges. The shorter 5k is less challenging and will allow runners the chance to race at an impressive altitude. There will be three aid stations on the 10k course, at mile 1, 2.5 and mile 5.7.
Due to construction on Vail Mountain, the race will begin and end at Mid-Vail this summer. Runners will enjoy racing on previous 10@10,000 Feet trail favorites including Upper and Lower Lucy's Loop, Grand Traverse and Grand Escape.

Individual race costs are $32 for preregistration or $42 on race day. Registration is available by clicking here or by calling 970-479-2280. Online registration ends at 5 p.m. on Friday. Day of registration and bib pickup will occur at the race start area from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. Pre-race bib pickup will also be available from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at the SmartWool store in Lionshead Village.

Parking  | Gondola Access
Racers should park in the Vail Village parking structure where parking is free. Gondola One in Vail Village will operate from 7  to 8 a.m. for race-day spectators and volunteers. Please note:
Spectators must present a lift voucher prior to loading gondola. Lift vouchers are available during bib pick-up from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at SmartWool, located in Lionshead Village, or at the race start area from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.
The gondola will stop running at 8 a.m. and failure to load will result in waiting until the gondola reopens at 9:30 a.m. and paying for a one-day scenic gondola ride ticket.
2015-16 valid (renewed) Epic Season Pass Holders can access the gondola beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Post-race, the gondola will be free for racers and spectators to download back to Vail Village.   
The Goods

la sportiva Prizes will be presented to the top three finishers and overall finishers of each age group, both male and female.Series prizes are awarded to the top three finishers who compete in at least five events. La Sportiva will provide winners of each age category with a pair of mountain running shoes of their choice.   
Cool Tech T's
Runners will receive Green Layer Tech T's following the race, featuring a unique insignias designed by Kind Design.
Raffle prize drawings also will be held at each race awards ceremony featuring products from area merchants and national companies.
