Back for its second year, the La Sportiva Half Marathon, 10K and 5K races will be run at historic Camp Hale on July 22.

This is the fourth race in the iconic La Sportiva Vail Trail Running Series. The Camp Hale Half Marathon, 10K and 5K is presented by Vail Valley Medical Center. The half marathon will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, followed by the 10K and 5K at 9:15 a.m. Camp Hale is located on Highway 24, south of Red Cliff, Colorado.

The half marathon course will utilize well-maintained dirt roads, the Continental Divide Trail, and the Colorado Trail surrounding beautiful and historic Camp Hale. This will be a rare opportunity to compete on the same terrain that the troops of the 10th Mountain Division used for training prior to World War II. The 13.1-mile course is situated at 9,200 feet above sea level and will have minimal elevation gains, reaching a peak altitude of 9,500 feet. Bring the entire family and enjoy a great day of trail running, unique views of some of Colorado's tallest peaks and the best swag from national brands.

The 10K and 5K races will begin 15 minutes after the half marathon. The course will be out and back, utilizing the gravel roads in the Camp Hale area. There will be aid stations for runners in all races.

Day-of registration will take place from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the race start line and preregistration is available online at www.vailrec.com/register until 5 p.m. on Friday, July 21. Runners may also register or pick up their bibs at The North Face store in Lionshead on Fri, July 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. Individual races cost $45 for pre-registration, $50 for week-of registration and $60 for day-of registration.

After the race, prizes will be presented to the top three finishers of each age category for the half marathon, and the top three in the open, masters and junior categories for the 10K and 5K. A raffle prize drawing will be held, featuring products from area merchants and national companies, which all racers are automatically entered to win. All runners will receive a The North Face tech T-shirt following each race, featuring a unique design and high-quality material.
Parking will be available within Camp Hale. Please do not park on the private property of Nova Guides; race staff will be directing traffic to proper parking. Please note that there is no cell service in the Camp Hale area, so plan accordingly. Race personnel will have communications with emergency operations in case of emergency.

The Camp Half Half Marathon, 10K and 5K is the fourth scoring race in the La Sportiva Vail Trail Running Series, Colorado's premier trail running series. The seven-race series runs May through September and includes distances ranging from a 5K (3.1 miles) to a half marathon (13.1 miles). Next up is the Berry Picker 5K trail run taking place Sat, Aug. 5, which takes participants on an intense 3.1-mile climb from the base of Vail Mountain in Vail Village to Mid-Vail. Runners will then enjoy spectacular views and trail running during the 5K and 10K@10,000 Feet, which takes place Sat, Aug. 26 at the top of Vail Mountain, with the majority of the race above 10,000 feet in elevation. The final race of the season, the MeadowGold 5K and 10K, is scheduled on Sat, Sept. 16 and will feature a brand-new course on iconic Meadow Mountain in the Town of Minturn. Runners will ascend technical single track on the beautiful West Grouse Trail before descending on double track with open views of Vail Mountain and the Gore Mountain Range.
