Craft Beer and Mountain Adventure Come Together This June at The Vail Craft Beer Classic

This June 16th - 18th, the Vail Valley will become a hub for craft beer enthusiasts as brewers and connoisseurs kick off the inaugural Vail Craft Beer Classic. 2016 LA Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series Continues June 18 with the Summer Solstice 5K, 10K & Kids Fun Run

The Vail Recreation District's 2016 La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will wrap up this Sunday with the EverGold 5K and 10K trail running races. Presented by Haute Route Gear & Apparel, the 10K race will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K race at 8:10 a.m. from Mountain Plaza at the base of Gondola One in Vail Village. Runners will make their way up Windisch Way and Gitalong Road before descending Lion Down to Lionshead Village. The course will then ascend singletrack on Hank's Hideaway before a quick finishing descent to Mountain Plaza via Strawberry Lane. Runners experience an average grade of 10 percent and gain nearly 1,300 feet in elevation throughout the race. This is the final race in the seven race series.  ( more)

Registration is open for the Vail Recreation District's third annual KEEN Family Mud Run, taking place this Saturday, Aug. 13 in Vail, Colo. Part of the 2016 Vail Kids Adventure Games presented by Toyota, the KEEN Family Mud Run is open to all ages and is the perfect opportunity for those who are too young or too old to participate in the Kids A.G., but still want to join in on the activities.  ( more)

Past Racers Return for the Historic 40th Annual LA Sportiva Vail Hillclimb

When asked of her experience running the La Sportiva Vail HillClimb Trail Running race each of its 40 years, veteran participant Sally Clair notes that "the HillClimb is not just a race. It is a tradition." The Vail HillClimb tradition returns this summer to celebrate its 40th season as part of the Vail Recreation District's 2016 La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The Vail HillClimb, presented by Vail's Mountain Haus, will take place on July 10 at 7 a.m., has hosted over 500 participants annually over the past four decades. Featuring a switchback dirt and gravel road with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain ranges, the HillClimb tests local, regional and national runners with a 7.7 mile climb and more than 2,200 feet of elevation gain.  ( more)

Epic Discovery Debuts at Vail Mountain

 On Tuesday, June 28, Vail Mountain unveiled its new Epic Discovery summer mountain experience at a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz, State Senator Kerry Donovan, Colorado Lt Governor Donna Lynne, U.S. Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams, USDA Deputy Undersecretary Leslie Jones, Executive Director of the Nature Conservancy Carlos Fernandez, and more. Thanks to legislation passed in 2011, the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act, Vail Resorts is once again leading the ski industry by being the first to submit and implement a comprehensive new summer activities plan to the U.S. Forest Service.  ( more)
