Registration is open for the Vail Recreation District's third annual KEEN Family Mud Run, taking place this Saturday, Aug. 13 in Vail, Colo. Part of the 2016 Vail Kids Adventure Games presented by Toyota, the KEEN Family Mud Run is open to all ages and is the perfect opportunity for those who are too young or too old to participate in the Kids A.G., but still want to join in on the activities.

The KEEN Family Mud Run, presented by the Vail Valley Medical Center and the Steadman Clinic, will begin at 4:30 p.m. this Saturday at the base of Gondola One in Vail Village. Families and individuals of all ages and ability levels are invited to come test their competitive streak during a one-mile, mud-filled race course. The run is fun for the whole family, and the Vail Fire Department helps out with rinsing off participants. In addition, all racers will receive a commemorative race gift from the sponsors.

Costs for the race are $50 for a family of four (two adults and two children) who preregister by Friday, Aug. 12 or $60 for day-of registration; $20 for individuals 15 years and older or $25 day-of; $10 for children 14 years and younger or $15 day-of. On-site registration and preregistered mud run bib pickup is available at KidSPORT in Vail Village (across from Solaris Plaza) during the following dates:
Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m.
and Saturday, Aug. 13 from noon to 4 p.m.

The Vail Kids Adventure Games is a five-day event for ages six through 14, where teams of two compete through fun, but challenging obstacles set in Vail Village and on Vail Mountain. Prior to the three days of racing, there are two days of skills clinics available to get racers excited, as well as help increase confidence before the big race. Throughout the event there is a Family Expo, which will be held at Solaris in Vail Village.
