Zipline(Vail)-- The KEEN Vail Kids Adventure Race, Vail's premier race for children ages six to 12, will return for the second summer and feature mountain biking, hiking, ziplines, archery, a Tarzan rope, Slope-n-Slide, tubing and more. In addition to the race favorites, such as the Slope-n-Slide and tubing, new challenges will be added to the course and could include a rock climbing wall, additional ziplines and more. Following the popularity of last summer's race, the VRD will offer 50 more team spots, which means 100 more kids will be able to participate in the outdoor sports and challenges.

Kids Adventure Race TubingAccording to VRD KEEN Vail Kids Adventure Race Director Beth Pappas, spots are filling quickly for the second annual race. "Last year we sold out and had a waiting list, so we're encouraging families to sign their children up early," said Pappas. "This summer's race is going to be bigger and better than last year's with new challenges, new features and fun for the entire family. We feel like this might be the coolest kid's race in the country and we're looking forward to race day."

Kids Adventure RaceThe race will begin at 9 a.m. at the base of Vail Mountain in Vail Village. Registration is $150 per team of two and teams will be divided into three age groups; six to seven years old, eight to nine years old and 10 to 12 years old. Registration will be limited to 100 teams and is available by clicking here or calling the VRD at 970-479-2880.

The 2011 KEEN Vail Kids Adventure Race is presented by KidSPORT, the Town of Vail and Vail Resorts. Additional sponsors include Camelbak, The Parents Handbook, KZYR 97.7, Vail Daily, American National Bank and David Honda's Vail Sports Medicine Physical Therapy.
