The Town of Vail is pleased to announce VI and Byron Brown as the Parade Marshals for 2016
New family friendly activity added to the Vail America Days Schedule
Event organizers announced today that the Vail America Days™ will return to Vail Village and Lionshead Village July 4, 2016. Vail’s event-filled Fourth of July celebration, Vail America Days, continues to be a top destination for those looking to celebrate the summer holiday in a fun and safe mountain environment. For 2016, the celebration will include spectacular fireworks, a classic town parade, music and more.

Entertainment will include Vail’s celebrated 4th of July parade this year with the theme of “The Spirit of America” a traditional fireworks display planned in Vail from Golden Peak (conditions permitting) at dusk, live musical entertainment throughout the weekend featuring family music, jazz, and the annual Patriotic Concert from Bravo! Vail with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as always complemented by all that Vail summer has to offer on and off the mountain.

The Spirit of America” themed parade will begin at Golden Peak at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 4 and will wind its way through the villages, ending in Lionshead. Vail’s parade is one of the most popular events during the Independence Day holiday, attracting thousands of spectators. The Town of Vail is pleased to announce Vi and Byron Brown as the Parade Marshals for 2016. Vi and Byron Brown have been a part of the Vail community for over 50 years and continue their engagement this Independence Day, as Vail America Days™ Parade Marshals for 2016. They are a quintessential Vail couple, with a fantastic ‘how we met on the slopes’ story. They have been involved in the development of the Town of Vail in many ways, from building and living in the first house in West Vail, to fundraising for local education, construction and other nonprofit organizations, and also helping to bring the 1989 Alpine Ski World Championships to Vail. Vi and Byron played crucial roles in both the expansion of the Eagle Valley Community Fund as well as the advancement and success of Ski Club Vail. Their son Mike Brown was the first Vail athlete to join the U.S. Ski Team, and has recently been inducted to the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame. Entrenched in Vail’s history, this distinguished couple represents the spirit of Vail, a true love for skiing and the culture surrounding the sport.

In addition to the variety of other events taking place as part of the holiday weekend, at 2 p.m. on the 4th of July, the annual patriotic concert performed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, presented by Bravo! Vail and the Vail Valley Foundation, will take place at the Ford Amphitheater.  All pavilion tickets will go on sale Friday, July 1 at 8 a.m. Each purchaser is limited to four tickets at $25 per ticket and will be available only to walk up customers at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater Box Office. All proceeds will benefit the Vail Veterans program.

New this year, you will find activities for the kids at the Children’s Fountain in Vail Village, on Saturday, July 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Sunbird Park, Lionshead Village, on Sunday, July 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kiddos interested in taking part in the parade on Monday are invited to visit the Supergoop! Kids SUNsational Activity Stations to have the opportunity to craft their own Supergoop! hat as their entry ticket to walk in the parade.

The celebration in Vail continues throughout the day and into the evening and will culminate with a fireworks show at Golden Peak on July 4th at dusk (conditions permitting). The fireworks will be synchronized to a powerful musical soundtrack and the show is suitable for all ages!  The Town of Vail asks that you join as stewards of the surrounding national forest. The use of all personal fireworks is prohibited.
