The Vail Arts Festival, an annual summer event, takes place June 29 – July 1, 2012 in Lionshead Village and Arrabelle at Vail Square. The event opens at 10 AM and runs until 5 PM each day.
Artists from throughout the United States will display and sell their work in various categories such as painting, photography, mixed media, jewelry, metal works, wood, ceramics, glass, sculpture, fiber, drawing and graphics & prints. The Creative Kingdom, a free children’s arts and crafts tent, will be open each day offering children an opportunity to create their own works of art to take home with them. In addition, there will be artist demonstration and Free street entertainment all weekend.
“We are extremely grateful to Town of Vail Commission on Special Events who fund a portion of the Festival each year,” stated Laurie Asmussen of Eagle Valley Events, Inc., the Festival producer. “Their support allows us to add additional attractions to the Festival, including free entertainment, that contribute to the atmosphere of the event. The ambiance and beauty of the Arrabelle at Vail Square, coupled with the remodeling of the entrance to the Lionshead area have combined to make this a truly special environment for our artists.”
The event is in its 29th year, taking place in Vail each summer. The artists are chosen to be invited through a jury process which takes place in early March. “We accept applications beginning in November of the previous year and an independent panel of jurors reviews the show in early March,” said Asmussen. “We welcome the talented group of artists who have been chosen to exhibit this year. The quality of artists combined with the welcoming environment of the Lionshead area will be a great draw to guests and residents alike.”
