(Vail) - The Vail Recreation District's La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Sheild returns for its 20th summer and will offer running enthusiasts 50 miles and 16,475 vertical feet in elevation gain on scenic trails throughout the Vail Valley. The series will take place Saturdays and Sundays and distances range from 3.1 miles to 13.1 miles.

The seven-race series will feature single track, mountain roads and double track while offering runners spectacular scenery throughout the summer. Details are as follows:

Individual race costs are $33 for preregistration, $38 week-of registration or $45 on race-day. Summer Solstice registration is $37 for preregistration and $50 for day-of, with proceeds benefiting the Vail Valley Charitable Fund. Student rates are $23 for preregistration, $35 week-of registration or $45 on race-day. Runners also can register for the entire race series for $200 by May 1 or $215 after May 1 or at a student rate of $145 by May 1 or $160 after May 1. A new online registration system is now available and all past users must create a new account. Users can now use one account to sign up the whole family for races, tournaments, camps and more!
