The Vail Recreation District's East West Destination Hospitality Mountain Bike Race Series presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will continue the summer season of racing on Wed, Aug. 2 featuring the uphill Davos Dash. Celebrating the longest-running mountain bike race in the state, riders will enjoy a steady climb along paved road and double track with distances ranging from 2.25 miles for younger riders to 3.5 miles for more experienced riders. This is the sixth race of the seven-race town series.
 
Individual race costs are $26 for preregistration or $37 on race day. Registration is available online at www.vailrec.com/register and preregistration for individual races ends at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Day-of registration and bib pickup will end at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and will be located at the West Vail Fire Station. All riders are welcome to participate and racers do not need to be registered in the full series to participate in individual races.
 
The races will begin behind the DoubleTree by Hilton (formerly known as the West Vail Holiday Inn), at the intersection of Chamonix Lane and Chamonix Road, with the KidSport Youth Series at 4:45 p.m. for riders ages 8 to 17. All youth racers will complete the 2.25 uphill course (halfway to the radio tower from the trailhead). The East West Destination Hospitality adult series will kickoff at 5:45 p.m. with details as follows:

4:45 p.m.  Beginner Boys 15-16 years old, Beginner & Sport Boys 11-14 Half way to radio tower, 2.25 miles
4:45:30 p.m.  Beginner Girls 15-16 years old, Beginner & Sport Girls 11-14 Half way to radio tower, 2.25 miles
4:46 p.m.  Beginner & Sport Boys 8-10 Half way to radio tower, 2.25 miles

5:45 p.m.   Men's Pro/Open, Men's Expert Under 35 Up to top of radio tower, 3.5 miles
5:46 p.m.  Men's Vet Expert (35+), Men's Single Speed Up to top of radio tower, 3.5 miles
5:47 p.m.  Women's Pro/Open, Men's Master Expert (45+) Up to top of radio tower, 3.5 miles

The race will include an after-party at the Vail Ale House with a free keg of beer provided by New Belgium Brewery for those 21 and over. Prizes will also be presented after the race to the top three finishers of each category, as well as a raffle prize drawing featuring products from race sponsors, area merchants and national companies. Pedal Power, the official bike shop of the Davos Dash, will be on-site to provide neutral support for racers with last-minute mechanical issues.
 
The competition will continue in Beaver Creek for the Beaver Creek Blast on August 23. The final race will held for kids only at the Minturn Mini Back To School Bash on August 30.
