Summer is right around the corner and the Vail Recreation District is offering camps and programs for all abilities, ages and interests. Registration is already open for sports camps, plus whitewater, mountain bike, and trail running races, and summer day camp registration opens online this Monday, April 3 at 8 a.m. with discounted pricing for early-bird and multi-day registrations. 
 
Once again, the Vail Recreation District is proud to offer a stellar lineup of day camps, where children ages 2.5 to 12 can spend a day, a week or the whole summer having fun while exploring and learning in Pre Kamp Vail, Camp Vail, Camp Eco Fun, Camp Eco Fun Campouts (with an additional campout scheduled this summer), Mad Scientists and Extreme Camp Vail. Daily rates for day camps start as low as $40 per day, so be sure to mark your calendar to register on Monday!
 
VRD is also pleased to bring back an outstanding variety of summer sports camps, many of which are led by professional athletes and coaches. These camps range in age from 4 to 18 years old, and cover the sports of baseball, basketball, flag football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

SUMMER DAY CAMPS - Registration opens Monday at 8 a.m.
 
PRE KAMP VAIL 
Ages 2.5 to 5 years
Pre Kamp Vail knows how to provide adventure for children with little legs and big spirits. The low camper-to-counselor ratio allows your camper to receive individual attention as they enjoy self-directed play, arts and crafts, songs, games and a daily adventure outing.
 
CAMP VAIL 
Ages 5 (AND entering Kindergarten) to 12 years
Vail's premier day camp invites children to experience the countless activities of Vail's unique alpine setting in an engaging and inclusive environment. Campers tailor their day by choosing from a wide variety of sports, art and science activities or special outings.
 
CAMP ECO FUN 
Ages 4 to 11 years
Camp Eco Fun offers children hands-on learning about the natural environment at the Vail Nature Center, plus crafts and activities that support the weekly ecological theme. VRD Community Programming partners with Walking Mountains and the Vail Nature Center to provide children an opportunity to playfully explore the natural world.
 
CAMP ECO FUN CAMPOUTS 
Ages 6 to 12 years
Spend the day with fun-filled explorations and games (including exploring by boat at Sweetwater Lake)! Enjoy dinner over a fire, then sleep in a tent and wake to breakfast before returning to Golden Peak for pick up.
 
MAD SCIENTISTS 
Ages 7 to 12 years
Explore science to a depth rarely achieved with elementary-age children. Young scientists will gain a better understanding of how the world works through experimentation, building and revising. Children come home with fun toys that teach science. Topics include rockets, energy conversion and science & math in art.
 
EXTREME CAMP VAIL 
Ages 8 to 12 years
Extreme Camp Vail takes place on Wednesdays and offers children an adventure-packed day outside of Vail. Outings include going on a Wild Cave Tour at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, indoor skydiving in Denver, paddleboarding on the Colorado River and more.
 
SKATEBOARD CLINICS 
Ages 7 to 14
Take advantage of the Vail Skatepark at the bottom level of the Lionshead Parking Structure! Learn to skateboard with instructors who will teach everything from basic skills and etiquette to perfecting a boardslide or kickflip. Skateboards and helmets are required, and wrist guards and knee pads are recommended.

BASEBALL CAMPS
June 12-16 | Ages: 6 and older
Join Colorado State University-Pueblo coach Stan Sanchez and his team for a week of fun! Learn new baseball skills or refine existing ones. This camp is designed for all abilities.
 
BASKETBALL CAMPS
July 24-27 | Ages: 6 years and older
Join former NBA All-Star, All-Pro Sydney Moncrief and his award-winning staff as players learn new skills while building on their fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork and defense.
 
GOLF CAMPS
June-August | Ages: 7 and up
Vail Golf Club offers a variety of golf camps where kids will learn fundamentals and etiquette of the game.
 
GYMNASTICS CAMPS
June-August | Ages: 5 and up
Children will learn how to flip, tumble and spin in these week-long gymnastics camps. Campers will have open gymnastics time, structured learning on all equipment, plus games, crafts and adventures to the parks within Vail Village.
 
ICE HOCKEY CAMPS
June-August | Ages: 6 and up
Dobson Arena hosts exciting youth hockey camps every summer! Bob Johnson Hockey School is a reason why many families vacation in Vail in the summer, and Pro Ambitions provides circuit training style hockey instruction and small area games.

LACROSSE CAMPS
July 10-14 | Ages: 7-18
Find out why lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country! Athletes will learn the fundamentals of stick handling, cradling, passing and shooting in a fun, non-checking environment. Staff helps campers learn not only the sport of lacrosse, but also important life skills such as respect, teamwork and discipline.
 
MINI-HAWK SPORTS TRAINING CAMP
June 19-23 or July 24-28 | Ages: 4 to 7
This multi-sport program was developed to give children ages four to seven a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. 
 
SKYHAWKS FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP
August 7-11 | Ages: 7 to 14 years
Skyhawks flag football is the perfect program for young athletes who want a complete introduction to football, or for those who simply want to brush up on their skills in preparation for league play.
 
SOCCER CAMPS
July 17-21 or July 31-Aug. 4 | Ages: 4 to 18 years
Join the VRD as they bring in professional coaches from England and Brazil this summer to share their expertise on what makes these countries the most successful in the world.
 
 TENNIS CAMPS
June-August | Ages: 7 to 17
Junior tennis camps are half-day lessons, taking place during five-day sessions. Children will be grouped by age level with a ratio of no more than six students to one coach in each session.
 
VOLLEYBALL CAMPS
June 5-7 | Ages: Grades 2-12
Join Colorado State University assistant coach Luke Murray and team athletes for fun and energetic skill sessions. Work on individual skills and fundamentals of passing, setting and attacking.
