Program and Activity Descriptions

Envision Your Life

Find your values, strengths, purpose and create a vision statement and action plan for your life. This interactive seminar forms the basis for each woman’s personal work moving forward. Beginning with an exploration of what we value and what our personal strengths are, we can then formulate our life purpose and a vision for the woman we want to be.

Rafting/kayaking

It has been said that one never steps in the same river twice. It is true of our daily lives as well, each one new and filled with opportunities and challenges. With the Colorado River and Timberline Tours guiding us, we will explore the metaphor of the River as Life’s Journey on one of the most scenic stretches of the river. As a river flows, so does our life – ever-changing and with surprises around every bend. Overcoming fears, embracing adventure and play, learning to balance, going with the flow, scouting life’s rapids, and knowing when to rest are all part of this journey.

Nature Photography

Bill Bonebrake  is one of Colorado’s premier nature photographers, and has developed a unique perspective through the camera lens. Bill leads participants into the wild to capture the essence of the natural world with a camera. In addition to learning specific techniques of nature photography, Bill will assist women in using the camera lens to connect to nature, to what they see and feel. Grounding, intuition, patience and perspective are intrinsic to nature photography, and to life.

Rock Climbing

We all run into walls in our life. How do we approach such a roadblock ? This climbing excursion, led by Adventure Travel Guides International, offers an approach that involves understanding the nature of the wall, working out its intricacies and challenges, and then discerning a strategy for conquering it one hand-hold and foot-hold at a time.  Critical thinking, overcoming emotion and fear, developing a strategy, and teamwork make climbing an empowering metaphor for overcoming obstacles in our life.

Equine Empowerment

Horses represent the unlikely, yet amazingly symbiotic partnerships we are capable of forming in our lives. These half-ton “flight” animals allow us to climb aboard their backs, demonstrating the nature of pure Trust.  Renowned Gestalt Equine facilitator and founder of Touched by a Horse, Melisa Pearce, uses horses to help people understand their emotions and intuition in a new way, which then deepens a trust in their own self-knowing.

Women’s Inner Wisdom

Each of us is our own garden and what we harvest from our life depends on what we plant, nurture, grow and weed from our personal garden. This workshop, held amidst the spectacular beauty of the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, teaches the synergy between nurturing oneself and others, offering tools for quick rejuvenation and long-term self-care and empowerment.  Awareness of our emotional state and learning to choose our responses gives us the power to understand and embrace our emotional self. Women will learn herbal therapy, chakras, journaling, grounding, communication, discernment and emotional stress relief skills.

Mountain/Wilderness Experience

Step into the wilderness, walk a path through the forest; come to a fork in the path, step over roots and rocks to solitude. Recognize that each foot forward shapes the journey, and delivers you closer to yourself, your dreams. With the expert guidance of Trailwise Guides, Inc., explore Vail's scenic backcountry, deepen your connection with the natural world, feel the pulse of your heart, awaken your breath to freshness and vitality, enliven your soul, and illuminate nature's role as a resource.  Discovering the benefits of a day out in nature opens your heart to your personal path, identifies the steps needed for walking back into the wilderness we call "home". All ability levels are invited to participate in this journey. Trailwise Guides, Inc. operates under a special use permit by the White River and San Isabel National Forest and by the Bureau of Land Management. Trailwise Guides, Inc. is an equal opportunity provider.

Mountain Hike

This walking meditation calls on intuition to feel into the visceral experience of the senses. Using the natural world to connect mind, body and spirit, we find both internal and external anchors for our being. What do we notice in nature, and how does that relate to our personal journey? What wisdom does the natural world have for us when we are awake and receptive to it?
