(Vail)- The Vail Recreation District (VRD) will host a variety of youth sports camps this summer in Vail including volleyball, baseball, sports training, soccer, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, tennis, sand volleyball, flag football and gymnastics. The camps, which will begin in early June and last through August, offer young athletes an opportunity to learn new sports, develop new skills and refine existing skills. Details and schedules are below.  
 
Rocky Mountain Beach Volleyball Camp: June 1-2 and July 13-14
Grades Six to Eight and Nine to 12
Sand Courts at the Vail Athletic Field, Vail
The beach volleyball camp is ideal for players who are looking to either learn the sport of beach volleyball or improve their skills. Players will be grouped according to ability with a maximum of 10 players per coach. The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. for grades ninth through 12th and cost is $125 per player. Grades sixth through eighth will play from noon to 2 p.m. and cost is $75 per player. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2280.   
 
Volleyball Skills Camp: June 3-5
Grades Two to 12
Homestake Peak School, Eagle Vail
Colorado State University Head Volleyball Coach Tom Hilbert will lead participants in individual skills training during the three-day camp. Grades second through sixth will meet from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and grades seventh through 12th will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Costs are $160 for grades seventh through 12th and $60 for grades second through sixth. Vail Skateboard Clinics: June-August
Ages Seven to 14
Vail Skatepark, Lionshead Parking Structure in Vail
Learn to skateboard at the Vail Skatepark with instructors who teach everything from basic skills and etiquette to perfecting a boardslide or kickflip. Skateboarding classes take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays beginning June 11. Costs per clinic are $15 to $25 for two hour sessions. Skateboards and helmets required, wrist guards and knee pads recommended. Registration will be available in April. Call 970-479-2292.

Junior Tennis Camps and Lessons: June 10 to Aug. 23
Ages Five to Teens
Vail Tennis Center, Vail
Junior Tennis Camps will take participant's tennis skills to the next level. Junior tennis lessons will take place Monday through Friday from from 8 to 9 a.m. for teens, 9 to 10 a.m.  for ages five to six, 10 to 11 a.m. for ages seven to nine and 11 a.m. to noon for ages 10 through 12. Lessons will take place June 10-14, June 17-21, July 1-5, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, July 29-Aug. 2, Aug. 5-9, Aug. 12-16 and Aug. 19-23. Cost is $65 per week, per participant. Camps will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 24-28, July 1-5, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 5-9. Costs are $190 for Vail residents and $210 for outside guests. Registration for tennis camps and lessons will be available beginning in late May. Call 970-479-2294.

Coached by Colorado State University Pueblo Coach Stan Sanchez, the camp is great for all ability levels and will offer participants a chance to learn and improve. Costs are $165 for a full day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or $135 for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Registration underway. Mini-Hawk Sports Training Camps: June 17-21 and July 22-26
Ages Four to Seven
Donovan Park Playing Field, Vail
This multi-sport program will give children ages four to seven a positive first step into athletics. The camp will include learning the essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer in a safe and fun environment. Campers also will explore balance, movement, hand-eye coordination and skill development. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon and cost $135. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2280.

Northern Edge Ice Hockey Goal Scoring Camp: July 17-21
Ages Six to 17
Dobson Ice Arena, Vail
Northern Edge Hockey is the premier hockey school in the industry. Now in its 20th year,  they have a low instructor-to-student ratio with attention to the smallest details to ensure players not only learn the most, but also have a great time. Camps are for all skill levels, will challenge the player through proven development plans and encourage players to work hard and have fun. Cost is $450 per participant. Call 636-532-9987.

Vail Gymnastics Camp: June-August
Ages Five and Older
Vail Gymnastics Center, Vail
These week-long summer camps are for children ages five and older and will not only include gymnastics, but also outdoor adventures such as hiking, visiting local parks and excursions to Dobson Ice Arena, Vail Nature Center and more. Children will be grouped according to age and skill level. The Competitive Team Camps will take place June 17-21, July 22-26 and Aug. 12-16. Public and Pre-Team Camps will take place June 24-28 and Aug. 5-9. The Public Camps are scheduled for July 8-12, July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 19-23. All camps take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $225 per camp, per camper. Registration underway. Call 970-479-2287.

Vail Golf Club Two-Day and Three-Day Junior Golf Camps:
June-August
Ages Six to 17, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Golfers

The Vail Golf Club will be offering two-day and three-day beginner camps June 18-19, July 30-31 and July 2-4. Three-day intermediate camps will be offered July 9-11 and July 23-25. A new advanced three-day camp is scheduled for July 30 to Aug. 1. Costs are $59 for the two-day camps, $89 for the three-day camps and $119 for the three-day advanced camps. The two-day and three-day camps are for ages six to 17 and will take place from 10 a.m. to noon. The new three-day advanced camp is for ages 10 to 17 and will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Registration will be available in April. Call 970-479-2260 for details.  

PGA Tour Academy Youth Junior Golf Overnight Camp: June 23-27
Ages 12-18
Vail Golf Club
This golf-intensive program is complete with seminars, guest speakers, video analysis and on-course instruction. Additional focus on the mental aspect of the game, as well as proper practice routines, tournament preparation and the opportunities for college golf will occur. Students will begin early with range instruction and warm up. After lunch, each camper will play 18 holes alongside The TOUR Academy instructors, who will provide course instruction to improve each golfer's game. Evening activities include dinner, free time and evening practice. Cost is $1,195 and includes lodging at Manor Vail Lodge. Commuter rate is $995. Registration underway, call 877-611-1911.

Vail Girl's Soccer Academy:

Experienced local coaches and athletes will lead participants in skills-based sessions including footwork, passing, receiving, touch, shooting and agility in a unique environment. Costs are $165 for the full day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or $135 for a half day from 9 a.m. to noon. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Registration underway. VRD/Skyhawks Lacrosse Camp: July 8-12
Ages Seven to 14
Eagle Vail Soccer Field, Eagle Vail
Athletes will learn the fundamentals of stick handling, cradling, passing and shooting in a fun, non-checking environment. Participants also will learn life skills such as respect, teamwork and discipline. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $165. Rental equipment is available at an additional cost. Bob Johnson Hockey School: July 14-20
Ages Seven and Older
Dobson Ice Arena
Participants will be led by U.S. women's silver medal winning Olympic team coach and 1980 Olympic gold medal winner Mark Johnson and his qualified staff for a week-long camp to improve on-ice skills and game playing techniques. Costs are $450 for Eagle County residents, $430 for Vail residents, $475 for outside guests or $175 for goalies. Children must be eight years or older with one year of skating experience.

TetraBrazil Soccer Camp:
 July 15-19
Ages Seven to 16

The TetraBrazil Soccer Camp will bring Brazilian soccer expertise to Vail and offer an opportunity for children to learn first-hand the type of soccer training that has made Brazil one of the most successful soccer nations in the world. The camp will combine learning of Brazilian techniques, footwork and moves. Costs are $161 for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon or $210 for a full day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day. Skyhawks Flag Football Camp: July 22-26
Ages Seven to 14

Skyhawks Flag Football Camps teach the core skills of passing, catching and de-flagging or defensive positioning, while delivering fun and exciting action. Each flag football camp is organized into training environments designed to prepare kids to be champions both on and off the field. Camps conclude with the Skyhawks Bowl, an action-packed game that gives campers a chance to show-off their skills. Camps takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $165. Registration underway. British Soccer Camp: July 29-Aug. 2  
Ages Four and Older

Challenger British Soccer brings professional coaches from England who will teach participants ball skills, passing, shooting and offensive and defensive techniques. Cost are $189 for a full day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $143 for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon; or $105 for ages four to five for lessons from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. VRD Back-to-Basics All-Star Basketball Academy: Aug. 5-8
Ages Six and Older
Homestake Peak School, Eagle Vail
Participants will be coached by former NBA All-Star, All-Pro Sydney Moncrief and his award winning staff during this four-day camp, which will concentrate on learning new skills while building on the fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork and defense. Ages 10 to 16 Homestake Peak School, Eagle Vail
Camp will emphasize shooting technique improvement to give participants an edge needed in a competitive basketball environment. Instruction will focus on individual shot mechanic analysis and a corrective action plan; form shooting instruction and training; progressive shooting practices and competitions; as well as shooting charts with effective tracking systems. Pro Ambitions Ice Hockey Battle Camp:
Aug. 5-10
Ages Six to 17
Dobson Ice Arena, Vail
This camp is for all levels of players whether they're a mite-level or in high school. (must have 1 year of active playing under your belt). Pro Ambition instructors are the masters of "Circuit Training" and small area games, allowing kids to always be moving and being corrected. Camps include lots of repetitions in a fun and spirited environment which fosters self confidence and great self esteem. Costs are $540 per participant. Call 970-479-2271.

Registration for Youth Summer Day Camps Begins April 1    
The VRD will announced its schedule for youth summer camps including Pre-Kamp Vail, Camp Vail, Camp Eco Fun and Extreme Camp Vail. Walk-in or fax-in registration for Camp Vail, Pre Kamp Vail and Camp Eco Fun will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, April 1. No online registration is available for the youth summer camp programs.
