(Vail)-The Vail Recreation District's (VRD) youth sports camps are underway with plenty of opportunities for Vail's visiting and local youth to hone in on their sports skills this summer.  Next week's camp offerings include the new PGA Tour Academy Youth Junior Overnight Camp and Full Day Camp and the Vail Girl's Soccer Academy, both which have spaces available. Camps fill on a first-come, first-served basis and are filling up quickly, with many camps full including the Bob Johnson Hockey School and Vail Gymnastics Summer Camps. Details are as follows:
  
NEW! PGA Tour Academy Youth Junior Golf Camps: Overnight Camp June 24-28
Full Day Camps: June 24-28 and Aug. 13-17
Ages 12-18
Vail Golf Club
These new golf-intensive programs will take place June 24-28 and Aug. 13-17. The June overnight camps, for ages 12 to 18, will be complete with seminars, guest speakers, video analysis and on-course instruction, as well as the mental aspect of the game, as well as proper practice routines, tournament preparation and the opportunities for college golf will occur. Overnight camp students will begin early with range instruction and warm up. After lunch, each camper will play 18 holes alongside The TOUR Academy instructors will provide course instruction to improve each golfer's game. During the overnight camp, evening activities will include dinner, free time and evening practice. Costs are $1,195 for the June overnight camp, which includes lodging at Manor Vail Lodge and $995 for commuter campers. The August full-day camps, for ages six to 16, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include stations in the morning to work on skills such as putting, chipping, bunker play and full swing, followed by lunch and nine holes of play. Vail Girl's Soccer Academy: June 25-29
Ages Six to 15
Eagle Vail Soccer Field, Eagle Vail
Experienced local coaches and athletes will lead participants in skills-based sessions including footwork, passing, receiving, touch, shooting and agility in a unique environment. Costs are $160 for a full day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or $130 for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Registration underway. Youth golfers of all levels can join the Vail Golf Club staff for this unique junior golf program that teaches children life lessons through the game of golf. For the past six years, the Vail Golf Club has partnered with the Youth Foundation via its junior camps, which instills crucial life skills including honesty, responsibility, integrity, honesty, judgment, respect, courtesy, confidence, sportsmanship and perseverance, all through the game of golf.A two-day camp will take place from 10 a.m. to noon June 19-20 for $59 per child. Three-day camps will take place from 10 a.m. to noon July 10-12, July 24-26 and July 31 to Aug. 2 for $85 per child per session. Teen camps will take place on from 4 to 5 p.m. Fridays beginning June 29 and cost $100 for five sessions or $25 day-of. Call 970-479-2260 for details. Junior Tennis Camps and Lessons: Underway Through Aug. 10
Ages Five to Teens

Junior Tennis Camps will take participant's tennis skills to the next level. Camps will take place from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 9-13, July 16-30, July 23-27, July 30-Aug. 3 and Aug. 6-10. Costs are $170 for Vail residents and $195 for outside guests. In addition, junior tennis lessons will take place throughout the summer beginning June 11 with a ratio of six students per coach. Lessons are from 9 to 10 a.m. for ages five to six, 10 to 11 a.m. for ages seven to nine, 11 a.m. to noon for ages 10 to 12 and noon to 1 p.m. for ages teenagers. Costs for tennis lessons is $65 per session. Registration for tennis camps and lessons will be available beginning in late May. Call 970-479-2294

Participants also will learn life skills such as respect, teamwork and discipline. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $155. British Soccer Camp: July 16-20
Ages Four and Older

Challenger British Soccer brings professional coaches from England who will teach participants ball skills, passing, shooting and offensive and defensive techniques. Cost are $185 for a full day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $140 for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon; or $103 for ages four to five for lessons from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day session. Skyhawks Flag Football Camp: July 23-27
Ages Seven to 14

Skyhawks Flag Football Camps teach the core skills of passing, catching and de-flagging or defensive positioning, while delivering fun and exciting action. Each flag football camp is organized into training environments designed to prepare kids to be champions both on and off the field. Camps conclude with the Skyhawks Bowl, an action-packed game that gives campers a chance to show-off their skills. Camps takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $155. Registration underway. Youth Martial Arts Camps: July 23-27 and Aug. 6-10
Ages Five to 12
Vail Gymnastics Center
These camps will introduce children ages five to 12 to all aspects of martial arts. Offered for all ability levels and operated by Vail Martial Arts Academy instructor Mathew Bayley, they include instruction on all major Japanese, Korean, Chinese and American martial arts. Instruction also covers the national, award-winning Alert Kids Kidnap Prevention Program. The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $150 per child. Call 970-949-8121 for details.   
 
Mini-Hawk Sports Training Camps: July 23-27
Ages Four to Seven
Donovan Park Playing Field, Vail
This multi-sport program will give children ages four to seven a positive first step into athletics. The camp will include learning the essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer in a safe and fun environment. Campers also will explore balance, movement, hand-eye coordination and skill development. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon and cost $135.  Registration underway. Call 970-479-2280. 
 
TetraBrazil Soccer Camp: July 30-Aug. 3
Ages Seven to 16
Ford Park Athletic Fields, Vail
The TetraBrazil Soccer Camp will bring Brazilian soccer expertise to Vail and offer an opportunity for children to learn first-hand the type of soccer training that has made Brazil one of the most successful soccer nations in the world. The camp will combine learning of Brazilian techniques, footwork and moves. Costs are $158 for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon or $103 for a full day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children must be eight years or older to attend the full day. Participants will be coached by former NBA All-Star, All-Pro Sydney Moncrief and his award winning staff during this four-day camp, which will concentrate on learning new skills while building on the fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork and defense. Camp will emphasize shooting technique improvement to give participants an edge needed in a competitive basketball environment. Instruction will focus on individual shot mechanic analysis and a corrective action plan; form shooting instruction and training; progressive shooting practices and competitions; as well as shooting charts with effective tracking systems. Vail Skateboard Clinics: Underway through Aug. 14
Ages Seven to 14
Vail Skatepark, LionsHead Parking Structure in Vail
Learn to skateboard at the Vail Skatepark with instructors who teach everything from basic skills and etiquette to perfecting a boardslide or kickflip. Skateboarding classes take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays beginning June 12. Costs per clinic are $20 for VRD residents and $25 for Eagle County residents. $5 discount when purchasing five or more sessions.
