Story Ideas The wildflowers are not the only things that bloom in Vail during the summer. With the variety of activities to try and events to experience, there is no shortage of stories to tell. Check this section often for the most up-to-date trends, snapshots and ideas. Vail 360: Release, Renew and Redefine Yourself As a resort community, we’re seeing a shift from “experiential vacations” to vacations that allow guests to pursue recreational passions. Instead of traveling to a destination to try something new (cooking classes, rafting, etc), people are traveling to engage in and develop existing passions on a vacation, focusing on outdoor sports and recreation and wellness for the whole family.
Vail is the ultimate destination where guests can pursue their passions for outdoor activities such as road and mountain biking and trail running and wellness opportunities such as yoga and Pilates. In summer 2010, Vail is focusing on transformational vacation experiences that the entire family can enjoy together. With a variety of outdoor programming, world class amenities and the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains, Vail is the ideal town in which to release, renew and redefine yourself during the summer.

EDUCATION IN VAIL:
Vail Jazz Workshop
The Vail Jazz Foundation is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Vail Jazz Workshop in 2010. The Vail Jazz Workshop is a ten day intensive workshop for a dozen of the most talented and promising high school aged jazz musicians in North America. The youth are teamed with the Clayton Brothers Quintet: Grammy winning bassist and composer John Clayton, who also serves as director of education at the Vail Jazz Foundation, leads the group, and is joined by brother Jeff Clayton, saxophone, Terell Stafford, trumpet, Bill Cunliffe, piano, and Lewis Nash on drums. This unique format allows the students to train one on one with some of today’s finest jazz musicians, an experience which culminates with performances at Vail Square and as part of the Vail Jazz Party. The Vail Jazz Workshop is a key program at the Vail Jazz Foundation to support the development of jazz and the young musicians and young audiences who are the future of the art form.

During school hours, our Teaching Artists serve an entire grade or an entire school by creating a music and dance extravaganza inspired by that year’s educational theme. The teachers are professional dancers, choreographers, musicians and composers, all of whom believe that the arts should be an integral part of every child's education.
