Hiking

  • Blue: Berrypicker. Starting at Lower Fireweed, this intermediate trail winds down from Eagle's Nest to Vail Village or Lionshead. 4.6 miles, 2-3 hours
  • Blue: Ridge Route. Intermediate climb from Eagle's Nest to Wildwood and back with spectacular views. 2.8 miles, 1.5-2 hours.
  • Black: Bad Simba. Steep side trail from Eagle's Nest. .75 miles

Hot Summer Nights Concert Series
Every Tuesday night at the Ford Park Amphitheater beginning from June 15 to August 17, 2010 the Vail Valley Foundation presents its free concert series, Bud Light Hot Summer Nights. This year's lineup includes bands that are perfect for getting into the mood.

Rafting
Rafting adventures are available in the Vail Valley for all ages and experience levels. Bring the entire family for a leisurely float or challenge yourself to conquer some of Colorado's toughest rapids.

  • Try out the "night vision" trip with Lakota guides. Experience twilight, floating down Class l and ll water as you sense the wonder of being "out there." As stars emerge, observe and learn constellations. Night Vision monoculars bring a whole different dimension to the outdoor night world.
  • The "triple thriller" trip with Timberline Tours takes guests through the Shoshone rapids three times, upping the ante on fun in the water.

 

Imagination Station

Vail Nature Center

Adventure Ridge

Teva Mountain Games
Professional and amateur outdoor adventure athletes from across the nation and around the world will converge upon the mountains and rivers of Vail to compete in eight sports and ten disciplines including: freestyle and extreme kayaking, paragliding, fly fishing one-fly and skills comp, diving dogs, kayak and raft paddlecross, bouldering, speed and dyno climbing, mountain bike freeride, big air, cross country, and road racing, as well as trail running, and the GNC Ultimate Mountain Challenge.

  • If you're feeling fit, try the Lärabar 10k Spring Runoff. It's the best mud-run that you'll find.

Explore the rugged terrain of the mountains surrounding Vail from the comfort of a 4 x 4 vehicle. Exploring the mountains by 4 x 4 is an amazing way to spend a beautiful afternoon with your friends, and it's sure to be an afternoon you won't soon forget.

  • Timberline Tours offers the Castle Peak tour with tremendous wildflower viewing, while the Lake Creek Trail combines a dense alpine forest setting with an area rich in local mining history.

 

Friday Afternoon Club on Vail Mountain
Kick off your weekend with Vail's only Mountain Top Friday Afternoon Club at Adventure Ridge on the top of Vail Mountain. FAC begins at 5 p.m. and features the best views in the valley with amazing sunsets as well as food and drink specials.
